Kevin is an in-demand pianist, arranger, and music educator, playing jazz, Afro-Cuban jazz, and salsa, (as well as for rock n' roll, classic rock, soul, funk, top 40, singer-songwriters, and more). He has performed all over California at a variety of public and private events, jazz, salsa, and music festivals (including the Monterey Jazz Festival), played on several tours, and used to play on cruise ships for (P&O U.K. and Princess). Among other groups, Kevin is the pianist and musical director for The Latin Jazz Collective with John Nava. He has composed and arranged for various artists, bands, and organizations, both locally, as well as all over the country, U.K. and Costa Rica.
As an award-winning music educator, Kevin has given college master classes/clinics on Afro-Cuban jazz and arranging at various schools (including CSUMB), taught at various jazz camps, coaches local high school jazz band rhythm sections, and teaches elementary school music for the Oak Grove School District. He was also the keyboard teacher for the Shoretel Battle of the Bands program, where employees learned to play instruments and be in bands with each other as a team-building exercise.
Kevin holds a B.A. in jazz (piano) studies, a B.M. in music education, and CA teaching credential. He went to San Jose State University where he studied piano with Frank Sumares, and also attributes much of his musical education to John Shifflett, Wayne Wallace (whom he studied arranging with), Dr. Aaron Lington, Dr. Dan Wyman, and Grammy-nominated Cuban percussionist, Bosco "El Gitano." Kevin grew up in the Bay Area and continues to call its diverse music scene his home.
